I can think of a ton of examples of how my life changed for the better when I learned to manage my anxiety issues. I could go into stores that I used to avoid, I could volunteer at the school for my oldest daughter, and I could attend events that I might have otherwise skipped because I knew that a) I probably wouldn’t have to deal with any anxiety, and b) if I did, I could get rid of it fairly quickly and easily.I’m so grateful for…

I’ve been doing a bit of thinking when it comes to this blog. At first I decided to veer away from personal blogging so I could focus more on other things. Then I realized that I’ve been sitting in radio silence because personal blogging is what I’ve always done since back in the days when blogging was new. After some thought I’ve realized that my blog focus and my personal blogging actually go hand in hand. If my goal is to show you how to fit…

Can someone please explain to me what happened to summer? Because I don’t know where it went. One second the kids were celebrating the last day of school and the next thing I knew someone said it was September and it was time to get back to the school-day routine. It’s not all bad, but man, I want another month of summer – more sun, more heat, more beach days! Sweaters and boots and multi-coloured leaves are great but there’s a lot more to be said…

Missed moments

at

I rushed home from work today to try to make it in time to see Breanna’s Christmas concert at school. The whole thing started at 6:30 and I got there at 6:40. Unfortunately for me, Breanna’s grade went on first, and I missed it. I got there just in time to see them walk off the stage. I could have cried. The only reason that I didn’t was because the gym was packed full of people and I didn’t want to do that in…

Today we took the kids to see Santa at the mall. It was our planned Advent Activity of the day. We had intended to walk in, wait in line, and the have the kids sit on his lap to tell him what they wanted. Then they’d get their picture taken and that would be that.First of all, when we arrived, I needed to pee and George wanted to check for something at the dollar store so we headed the opposite way of Santa’s spot. His giant chair…

Since Breanna turned 7 years old last Tuesday, we decided to have her birthday party on the Saturday. She invited quite a few of her friends from school and we ended up with six kids from her class plus Hayley’s best friend and of course their cousin Claire.I was a little worried about how things would hold up with that many young kids running wild through my house but it was fine. It was loud, sure, but the kids were all good. No one fought or even bickered…

Somehow, and I still don’t quite know how, the little baby who was sleeping in a plastic bassinet next to my hospital bed just yesterday turned into a seven-year-old girl. She didn’t ask my permission to do so either, she just went and grew up. Despite my annoyance at her just deciding to do that, choosing to grow up, there were many good things about the day. There was also a bit of sadness. But first the positive side. The ups of Breanna’s birthday:*I…

(And not necessarily the good kind of excitement either.)We enjoyed a three day weekend here thanks to Remembrance Day falling on a Sunday, and we decided to spend our weekend doing as little as humanly possible. We achieved this quite nicely for the first two days. We didn’t really go anywhere, other than the kids who went for a play date and we watched a few movies. Speaking of movies, I mentioned that I felt like watching a zombie movie and suggested re-watching “28 Days Later” since…

Last week Hayley and Breanna went back to school, although to be fair they didn’t actually have a back to school week so much as a back to school Wednesday-Thursday-Friday. Monday was Labour day, Tuesday the teachers went back on their own to finalize getting their classrooms ready, and then the kids descended upon the school on Wednesday. While I’m sure that not all of them were thrilled, most seemed really happy to be back to see their friends again.(Most of the parents looked pretty…
