5-books-that-have-helped-with-my-stress-anxiety

I’ve done a lot of things over the years to work on managing my anxiety and also the stress levels that create even MORE anxiety. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to anxiety and panic attacks, less is truly more!I started off by learning to do yoga in my living room back in 2010. In 2012 I added running – something I used to do on the cross country team back in high school. I also worked on meditation in fits and spurts. Right now…

how-to-use-affirmations-to-improve-your-life

One of the most amazing things about the human brain is that as complex as it may be, you can trick it into believing something just by repeating it often enough. The downside, of course, is that if you constantly tell yourself, “I’m not good enough” or “I am terrible at [insert whatever you’re telling yourself here]” or “I’m stupid,” then you’ll start to genuinely feel that it’s true. The not-always-obvious upside, though, is that this means you can change your story…

meditation-for-menstrual-cramps

Sorry gentlemen, while meditation can benefit anyone and everyone, this one is geared towards the ladies!(Although if you’re a man who has a woman in his life who deals with this issue, you might want to pass this post along to help them out!)Once a month, pretty much like clockwork, I find myself clenching my jaw and trying not to let the entire world know that I am currently dealing with painful PMS cramps. I’m pretty lucky, it usually only lasts for the first day of…

12 Weird things runners do

at

Almost every single time I go out for a run, I find myself thinking about all the fairly weird things that runners do that your average person most likely doesn’t do. It’s not because runners are any less sane than people who do not find pleasure in getting up at the crack of dawn just for the chance to get a finisher’s medal and a free carton of chocolate milk (though some people may argue that point), we just do things that you don’t see out…

I think I can I think I can!

at

We are so close to being all done with our Christmas shopping, but alas, once more we’ll have to finish it off on the 24th. We just couldn’t get it all done. George, bless his merry heart (or something), went out to buy gifts for his family, two for mine, and two more gifts for the kids – and he did it while he was sick. We’ve all been sick the past few days except for Hayley, which means she is bordering on bored while the rest of…

Real Moms

at

A few days ago, Jerri tagged me to do the Real Moms meme. I don’t often do memes here but this one is fun so I decided to do it. Also, I was very inspired by the Real Mom answers over on Kerflop and on Oh My Stinkin’ Heck.It all got started by Kristen and the rules are as such:Put up a post “Real Moms [insert what you do here]”, followed by an explanation, a picture, and a “Real Moms. Making ….”.Generally a Real Mom to me…

Question and Answer

at

Okay so I asked you guys for questions and now I have to actually think and come up with answers. Sheesh.

1. Chantal asked: Who is your favourite Beatle?

Answer: Paul. That’s probably predictable, but true. I love his voice, I like his position on a lot of things, and I am so dreadfully sorry that he was insane enough to marry someone without a pre-nuptial agreement because I think Heather Mills is a lying bitch. I hope she falls flat on her face on Dancing With the Stars.

2. Closs asked: What do you like best about where you live?

Answer: I like Montreal’s diversity and multicultural atmosphere. It’s a great place to immerse yourself in a lot of different ethnic ways of life without even leaving your home city. I particularly love our Chinatown. It’s nowhere near as big as the one in Toronto (you can walk from one end to the other in under ten minutes) but the food is good, the prices are ridiculously awesome, and the atmosphere is great.

3. Liz asked: Just curious….how do you plan your day around blogging?

Answer: I don’t really. I do it when I can. If there’s something I really want to write, I try to do it when I get the chance. If it seems like it’s not going to happen because my blogging bug has bad timing, I at least try to jot the topic down on a paper – I have tons of old envelopes and post-it notes with little scrawls about this blog topic or that blog topic. Then I go and write about it later. The easiest time is first thing in the morning when the kids are in their best mood or at night when they’re in bed. And any design stuff generally happens at night.

Whew, lots of fun questions, keep reading…

Okay, I have nothing to blog about really. I’ve been trapped in this apartment for too long between weather and an under-the-weather Breanna. Unless you want me to sit here and write about the very exciting walk I took to the store the other day to buy a new digital thermometer for Breanna or about how I love the fact that George is not the kind of guy who is squeamish about the fact that he had to go out and buy me pads today, well I…
